Description

Using our new edge to edge design we’ve created a plant based frame with 6% more cells over a regular Beetek frame or 13% more cells over wooden frames - which means more space for brood and more room for honey. More importantly, we’ve done this without compromising on strength or rigidity.

Waxed and ready to go! The BioForme frames come evenly coated in 30g of New Zealand wax.

Each RTG box comes fully assembled, paraffin dipped, machined flush at the base and painted. Why spend precious time assembling, dipping, painting, and machining boxes when you can buy them complete and ‘Ready To Go!’

Key Features and Benefits of the BioForme frame

  • Made from sustainably grown, carbon neutral plant material emitting 77.8% less greenhouse gas during production versus traditional plastic frames.
  • BioForme frames burn clean, zero waste, end of life options for AFB-infected hives, frame replacement and frame cycling. Can be rewaxed and reused, or if damaged, commercially composted.
  • Designed to withstand the rigours of beekeeping operations. Durable and maintains similar rigidity to plastic frames with slightly lower drop resistance
  • Same dimensions as our plastic frames, new edge-to-edge moulding increased cells by 6-13% without compromising rigidity.

Handling and Care

BioForme frames are unique in many ways and need to be handled very differently to plastic frames. Under certain conditions BioForme frames can bow or twist. To minimise the risk of this occurring frames MUST be stored below 40 degrees, out of sunlight and kept in the original carton or hung inside a brood or honey box. BioForme shipping cartons can be stacked up to 2M high. Pallets must not be double stacked and heavy loads should not be placed on top of the palletised BioForme cartons.

Due to the nature of the materials used, there may be minor variances in dimensional accuracy of up to 2.5mm over the length or 0.5%

BioForme frames are compatible with prickers, but uncappers may need some adjustment to run correctly. Because of the additional width on the comb face, uncappers may not be able to uncap to the edges of the frame. Please trial frames through your extraction line before bulk purchasing.

IMPORTANT:

BioForme Frames are not as shape-stable as traditional plastic frames and you may experience some movement on the hive if they are under tension. Please test BioForme frames on your hives to see that they are suitable for your operation.

Adjustments will need to be made to some commercial uncapping lines to accommodate the larger frame surface area.
